The conference takes place at the Hyundai Hotel in Gyeongju. The official program starts with a reception around 18:30 on June 5 and ends in the late afternoon of June 8.
The Hyundai hotel is offering three kinds of rooms at a preferential rate. Reservations for this special rate have to be made through us, and cannot be made directly at the hotel. The special rate is available from Sunday, June 3 (arrival) until Saturday, June 9 (departure). (We will accept reservations for longer stays, but you have to add KRW 30,000 per night for nights outside this period.)
You have the following choices:

Wireless internet will be available free-of-charge in the conference area. PCs with internet access are also available in the business centre, free of charge for hotel guests.
SoCG will provide a simple breakfast (coffee, tee, muffins and bread, yoghurt) on the mornings of June 6, 7, and 8. On other days (or if you miss the SoCG breakfast), the hotel offers an extensive breakfast buffet (which includes American, Continental, and Korean style dishes) at a special price of KRW 18,000 per person per day. The breakfast is served in the hotel coffee shop ``Sara'' on the 1st floor. To qualify for the special rate (the normal price is KRW 23,000), you need to tell the waiter that you are participating in the ACM Symposium (until June 5). You should show your SoCG name tag starting from June 6. The price is valid for accompanying persons as well. Alternatively, you can find something to eat at one of the cafes or supermarkets nearby.
If you wish to stay at the Hyundai hotel, please fill in the reservation sheet below and either fax it to Otfried Cheong at +82-42-869-3510 or scan a signed printout and mail it to socg at tclab.kaist.ac.kr. We will send you a confirmation by Email within a few days. (We cannot guarantee availability of rooms anymore.)
There are two versions of the reservation sheet, in Word and in PDF. You can fill out the Word version electronically, but do not return the Word file to us. We need your signature, so you will have to print out the form, sign it, and then either fax or scan and email the sheet. If you fill in the form by hand, please write very clearly in block letters. It is as hard for Koreans to read hand-written roman characters as it is for Westerners to read hand-written Hangul (that is, virtually impossible).
Note: Your credit card must be valid until at least June 2007.
Note: The form says `return by May 1', but we can currently still accept reservations at the reduced rate.
There are several other big hotels in the Bomun Lake area (Hilton, Concorde, Kolon, Westin Chosun), but it is unlikely that you would find a rate matching the Hyundai hotel offer.
If you are adventurous, you could try a Korean style inn (traditionally called Yeogwan, now often called Motel). As the KNTO says quite correctly: Yeogwans populate the vicinity nearby bus terminals and train stations in large cities. They are not only easy to access, but they are also inexpensive. Reservations are not required unless it is peak season or a holiday. Because of the cheap price and easy accessibility, the conditions are not necessarily pleasant. In Gyeongju, typical prices for Yeogwan in downtown would be around KRW 30,000 per night. Reservations are often not even possible. Beware that many motels double as love hotels, and the decor often reflects this. There are several Yeogwan in downtown Gyeongju, a 20 minute bus ride from the Hyundai hotel. There are also several motels in the Bomun area:
Another alternative to the Hyundai hotel, if you are with a group of people, is to book a small apartment in a so-called condominium. The Daemyung Resort is right next to the Hyundai hotel (you can see the Hyundai hotel in the background in the photo on their web page) offers small two-room apartments with space for five for KRW 80,000 in the off-season. A similar place is Hanhwa Resort, which is a somewhat longer walk (but easy bicycling) from the Hyundai hotel. The drawback is that both places do not have an English website, don't accept foreign credit cards, and you can only book a month before you arrive.
